Routes and history are not unique to Aura. Many real-time trackers keep them too. Aura's difference is what the whole product is built to do with that history: create a personal record of your cat's life outside.

Why not real-time?
Not another real-time tracker.
Real-time trackers already do an important job: they can show where a pet is now, and many also keep historic routes and activity records. Aura is not claiming otherwise.
The difference is what the product is built around. Real-time trackers are primarily location services. Aura is built to help you discover and remember your cat's life outside.
Aura does not need your cat to stay connected while they are away. It records the journey locally, brings it home by USB and turns that evidence into routes, patterns and A Cat's Tale — with no SIM, subscription or account.
If your priority is a live dot on a map when your cat is missing, Aura is not designed to replace a real-time tracker.
Aura isn't a tracker with a diary added. The diary is the point.
Development status
Aura is already more than an idea.
The core chain has been demonstrated with working prototype hardware and Aura Studio. Development is now focused on turning that proof into a small, efficient and genuinely cat-wearable product.
From movement to story
Prototype hardware has demonstrated motion-led wake-up, satellite position acquisition, journey recording and storage, and USB transfer. Aura Studio can verify a completed journey and turn it into a first-person diary.
Use less power. Fit the cat.
Current work is reducing unnecessary GPS-on time, proving real battery endurance and compressing the working electronics into a small, comfortable, self-contained collar unit.
Prove the finished wearable
Final weight, endurance, enclosure, weather resistance, compliance, production design and wearer validation still need to be proven before Aura is ready as a finished product.
Aura Studio is currently in private development testing. Hardware testing so far has used controlled bench and outdoor field scenarios rather than a cat. Public Studio access, final specifications and any launch timetable will follow only when the wearable hardware is ready to support them.
A Cat's Tale
The same route should not sound the same for every cat.
Tell Aura Studio about the cat you know and the diary can sound like them: adventurous, cautious, curious, aloof, determined or gloriously unpredictable. The recorded journey supplies the facts. Their personality supplies the voice.
